Email team@snowyghost.com and a human will reply. You can also start that email from Ovenlight: tap the ••• button at the top right, then Settings, and tap Contact Us. It fills in your Ovenlight version.
I got an invite. What do I do?
Open the invite link on your iPhone. If you don't have Ovenlight yet, get it from the App Store, then open the link again. Ovenlight shows who invited you and to which app; tap Join. You don't need an account. If the link opens a web page instead, tap Open in Ovenlight there. You were shown a QR code? Scan it with the Camera app, or in Ovenlight tap the ••• button, then Join with Invite.
An invite works once, on one iPhone, and expires after a day. If yours was used or has expired, ask for a new one. Some people approve each new iPhone before it can join; Ovenlight tells you when it's waiting, and the app appears once they approve.
The app says it can't reach the computer
Each app runs on its owner's own computer, not on our servers, so it opens only while that computer is on, awake and online. Check that your iPhone is online, then tap Try Again. If it still doesn't open, the computer is probably asleep or off, so let the person who shared the app know.
If it's your own computer, make sure it's awake and logged in to its desktop, then run ovenlight doctor on it. It lists anything wrong, each with its fix.
An app disappeared, or Ovenlight says No Longer Shared With You
The person who shared the app stopped sharing it with you, or stopped running it. When that happens, the next time Ovenlight connects it removes the app and everything it stored on your iPhone. If you think it was a mistake, ask them for a new invite.
How do I leave an app someone shared with me?
In Ovenlight, tap the ••• button at the top right, then Settings, and tap Leave next to their name under Shared With You. You can also leave from the app's menu, or by touching and holding its icon. Leaving removes all of that person's apps and everything they stored on your iPhone, and you'll need a new invite to open them again. They still see you in their list until they remove you.
How do I report a problem with a shared app?
A shared app is run by the person who shared it, on their own computer. Snowy Ghost doesn't host or run it, and can't see inside it. For anything about how the app itself works, choose Send Feedback to (their name) from the app's menu: your note, and a screenshot unless you turn it off, go to the person who runs it.
To tell us about a problem, including an app you think is harmful, choose Report a Problem from the app's menu, or by touching and holding its icon. It starts an email to us with the app's name and address, who shared it, and your Ovenlight version filled in. Add what happened, and send it when you're ready. You can also leave the app at any time.
How do I set up my own computer?
You need a Mac with macOS 13 or later that stays on, and logged in, while you use your apps, and a Tailscale account with MagicDNS and HTTPS certificates turned on.
- Get the Ovenlight connector: email team@snowyghost.com and we'll send you the current release. Unpack it and run
./install.sh. - Run your app so it serves plain HTTP on
127.0.0.1, then publish it with its port, for exampleovenlight publish --port 4317 --name "Notes". - Open the login link it prints and sign in with your Tailscale account.
- In Ovenlight, choose Use My Own Computers (or, if you've already joined someone's app, tap the ••• button, then Settings, then Use Ovenlight With My Own Computers), tap Connect, and sign in with the same account. Your apps appear on their own.
ovenlight doctor checks the setup. To share an app, store a Tailscale API access token with ovenlight auth set, make the app shareable with ovenlight publish --slug notes --shareable, then touch and hold the app in Ovenlight and choose Share.
Does Snowy Ghost see my data?
No. Your apps run on your computers or your friends', and Ovenlight connects to them over a private, encrypted connection that doesn't pass through any server of ours. The app has no analytics, ads or tracking. Nothing you do in your apps reaches us. Apart from the ordinary web request when a page on ovenlight.app loads, and crash reports Apple may pass on, the only things that reach us are emails you choose to send. The Privacy Policy has the details.
